Springfield man convicted of meth possession
A Springfield man was charged with drug possession, with intent to distribute.
Springfield, Mo. –- A Springfield man was charged with drug possession, with intent to distribute.
Mark Alan Doty, 57, of Springfield, Missouri was convicted Tuesday for possessing of methamphetamine.
Doty was found guilty of Count I contained in the felony information.
The evidence at trial showed that the Springfield Police Department executed a search warrant at 1531 North Wabash on November 3, 2015. Doty was found at the location with multiple plastic baggies on his person and $1,100.00 in cash.
A backpack at the location had over 20 grams of methamphetamine in a false bottom can, a digital scale, and multiple documents bearing the his name. Doty admitted to using drugs, but denied selling drugs.
A firearm was found in the same vicinity as the backpack. The jury found the him not guilty of Counts II and III in the felony information that charged Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, respectively.
