The Stone County Sheriff posted a statement to his office's Facebook page saying, "All of us at Stone County Sheriffs Office are so very proud of Sgt. Shawn Fields. He does not claim to be a hero, he is just a deputy doing his job. He never hesitated when tragedy struck a week ago."

Sgt. Fields met with Gov. Parson, the First Lady and LT. Governor Kehoe Thursday. Then he met with President Trump.
