Posted: Updated:

TANEY COUNTY, Mo - On Thursday, at approximately 12:25 a.m., crews responded to the 3300 block of JJ Highway for a residential structure fire.

Crews arrived on scene and had significant problems accessing the home as it was off of any kind of surfaced road. The firefighters made an aggressive interior attack and located a fire in the center on the home. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

Crews located a family dog inside the home that was not breathing. Once the firefighters removed the dog and performed CPR, they were able to revive the dog.

The home was occupied at the time. Smoke alarms activated and woke up the occupants allowing them to escape without injury. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The current condition of the dog is unknown as it was left in the care of the family.
