Springfield, Mo - Today could be the busiest travel day of the year, according to TSA. Airport security is expected to screen over 2.7 million passengers nationwide.
If you are heading out of town this weekend for Fourth of July, or for summer vacation, here are a few tips to get through the lines quickly.
First, TSA says make sure to leave any weapons, knives or ammunition at home, but if you must bring them be sure to check TSA's website to see if you can keep them in a checked bag.
Weapons will be confiscated if found in a carry on.
As for electronics, anything bigger than a cell-phone should be put in a separate bin while going through security.
Any liquids 3.4 ounces or smaller should be contained in a zip-lock bag.
If you are still unsure of what you can or can not pack, TSA has an app for download.
TSA spokesperson Carrie Harmon says "It has a unique feature. It says on the home page 'Can I bring my?' You type in the name of the item, and it tells you if you can put that item in your carry on bag, your checked bag or if you should just leave that item at home."
