Springfield Man found guilty of assaulting neighbor with rifle
A Springfield man was found guilty of assaulting a 67-year-old man.
Springfield, Mo - A Springfield man was found guilty of assaulting a 67-year-old man.
Cody Randall McKenzie was found guilty of First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action.
While the jury was deciding on a verdict, they were presented with surveillance video evidence, which showed McKenzie striking the victim in the face several times with the bottom of a rifle.
McKenzie and a family member came on to the victim's property to collect a debt.
The evidence also showed the victim holding a gun, McKenzie struggling to grab the gun, and eventually taking it away as he was punching the victim in the face.
McKenzie then used the gun to strike the victim in the face.
The victim sustained serious physical injuries, such as long term double vision, and facial fractures.
McKenzie is subject to a sentence of 10 to 30 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
