Springfield shooting suspect identified
A man has been charged for allegedly shooting the father of his grandchild.
Springfield, Mo - A man has been charged for allegedly shooting the father of his grandchild.
Wednesday, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call in reference to a shooting incident in the area of Nicholas and Davies.
Upon arriving, officers contacted the victim, Ivory Williams, who suffered from a gunshot wound to his face. Williams was unable to provide a statement about the shooting at the time and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
According to the probable cause statement, an officer went to the hospital and was able to contact Williams. Williams advised the officer that "Roy Hicks" was the one that shot him. Williams stated, "Roy Hicks" was his "baby mamma's daddy".
Witnesses told officers the suspect left the scene in a maroon Chevrolet Suburban. Witnesses followed the Suburban to the 3700 block of West Nichols where it pulled into the driveway. Officers responded and set up a perimeter around the address. The suspect, Raleigh Hicks, exited the front door of the address and was detained.
A search warrant was obtained to search for the firearm used in the incident. The handgun was not recovered, though several other firearms were located. According to court documents, Hicks is a convicted felon.
Hicks has been charged with first degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He is being held at the Greene County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
