Park Board opens cooling centers due to heat advisories

Posted: Updated:

Springfield, Mo - To help residents keep cool and stay safe during National Weather Service-issued Heat Advisories, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board adjusts schedules at outdoor pools and the Springfield Skate Park, and offers cooling center options.

POOLS

If scheduling allows, the Park Board  strives to keep at least one outdoor pool open late during Heat Advisories, including:

Wed., June 27, Westport Pool, 3100 W. Mt. Vernon Ave., open until 8 p.m.

Thurs., June 28, Silver Springs Pool, 1100 N. Hampton Ave., open until 8 p.m.

Outdoor pool admission is $2.50/youth and seniors, $3/adults, 1-5:30 p.m. Admission drops to $1 or free with a canned food donation every day, 5:30-6:30 p.m., and that discount rate is also extended to close when pools are open late. Food donations benefit Ozarks Food Harvest.
