Lebanon homicide suspect arrested in Springfield
Cashawn Ward Williams was taken into custody for the 1st degree Murder of Gary Don Peterson without incident in the 1400 block of S. Lovers Lane in Springfield, Missouri.
UPDATE: On Tuesday, June 19, 2018 Cashawn Williams was taken into custody for the 1st degree Murder of Gary Don Peterson without incident in the 1400 block of S. Lovers Lane in Springfield, Missouri.
According to the release, Information had been received that Williams was inside a residence belonging to a family friend in Springfield, Missouri and after confirming that the information was accurate, a search warrant was obtained for the residence.
Prior to the warrant being served, Williams and two other occupants came out of the residence and Williams was taken into custody without incident.
This investigation is still ongoing.

PREVIOUS UPDATE: Cashawn Ward Williams was charged with class A Murder in the 1st Degree and felony armed criminal action for the murder of Gary Don Peterson.
According to the release, on June 5, 2018 39-year-old Cashawn Ward Williams shot and killed 47-year-old Gary Don Peterson in the 500 Block of Sweet Street in Lebanon, Missouri. At approximately 5:02 P.M.
At this time,authorities have not located Cashawn Williams.

ORIGINAL STORY: LEBANON, MO - - The Lebanon Police Department is actively investigating the homicide of a 47-year-old male subject from Lebanon.
The incident occurred in the 500 block of Sweet Street Tuesday evening.
At approximately 5:02 p.m. the Lebanon Police Department responded to the scene regarding a verbal altercation between a 39-year-old black male and a 47-year-old white male. While responding to the call, officers were advised that the black male subject shot the white male subject and left the scene.
Upon arrival, officers located the white male victim lying in the roadway unresponsive and began life saving measures. A short time later, the Laclede County Coroner arrived on scene and pronounced him deceased.
Officials have identified a person of interest and are actively trying to locate him.
The police department continues to investigate this incident and will keep the public updated as they gather further information.
The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.
