Branson, Mo. -- Officers of the Branson Police Department arrested 3 individuals on Monday in connection with two incidents of vehicle theft, recovering both vehicles in the process.
Officers responded to Cahill Road in Branson in reference to the report of theft from motor vehicles. Shortly after arrival, officers began searching for a vehicle stolen from the same location.
Less than one hour after the search began, an officer located the stolen vehicle at a Walmart Supercenter. The vehicle was occupied by 37-year-old Simon D. Albrecht of Harriet, Arkansas. Further investigation revealed a second suspect. Officers blanketed the area again and located the second suspect, 26-year-old Joseph Nelson of Oldfield, Missouri.
Further investigation led to the recovery of a second stolen vehicle not far from where the first was found. This vehicle, stolen in Taney County, contained firefighting gear when stolen. A search warrant was obtained and some of the stolen firefighting gear was recovered from the home as well as controlled substances leading to the arrest of 53-year-old Eric Dean Leonard of Branson.
This investigation was initiated by the Patrol Division and completed by both General and Vice investigation Units of the Branson Police Department.
According to police, Albrecht and Nelson have been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and property damage. Leonard has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and keeping or maintaining a public nuisance.
