Springfield, Mo. -- Greene County officials have announced the first quarter crime statistics report of 2018, showing an overall decrease in crime compared to this time last year.
The report shows an overall decrease in crimes against persons by 5 percent as well as property crimes by 11 percent.
"Crime statistics fluctuate monthly,” said Sheriff Jim Arnott. “We attribute the lower crime numbers to our hardworking deputies and the relationship between our agency and the community. With proactive policing and the watchful eye of the citizens within our community, we can make a difference."
The first quarter report includes statistics from January through March.
