Posted: Updated:

Jefferson City, Mo. -- Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley announced Rey Hernandez, 21 of St. Louis, was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action following a four-day trial on Thursday, April 5.

Hernandez shot and killed Haris Hajdarevic and James Cobb, Jr. as they sat in a car in the 4400 block of Taft Avenue in St. Louis on October 28, 2015. Hajdarevic was shot twice and died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Cobb Jr. was shot five times and died from a gunshot wound to the head. The jury returned the verdict after just two hours following testimony from law enforcement officers, the crime laboratory DNA and firearms analysts, lay witnesses and the medical examiner.

“Missouri citizens who perpetrate such senseless violent crimes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Hawley said. “I hope the victims’ families find some solace in this conviction.”
