Gov. Greitens calls house report a "political witch hunt"

Posted: Updated:

Jefferson City, Mo - Governor Eric Greitens made a public statement Wednesday about an hour before a house committee released its report on a probe into his sex scandal.

The governor calls the report and allegations against him "a political witch hunt". He went on to say three years ago he made a personal private mistake that he regrets everyday.

House Speaker Todd Richardson along with other house republican leadership and committee members held a press conference Wednesday evening releasing their findings.

The Republican governor is charged with invasion of privacy for allegedly taking a compromising photo without the consent of a woman he was having an affair with in 2015, before he was elected. In his statement Wednesday, Greitens said the upcoming jury trial will prove his innocence.
