Nixa, Mo. -- (3/9/2018) After a transformer burned up last summer, the city of Nixa was left without power in some areas and was forced to use older, smaller equipment to get by.
The city promised its residents that it was searching for a newer, bigger transformer for its Epsy substation. City officials have just announced that a new transformer will be delivered on Tuesday, March 13. The large piece of equipment will be set in place behind Epsy Elementary.
Nixa officials say the transformer will take a couple of weeks to get connected, tested and ready to go online. Once in place, officials are optimistic that the transformer will prevent the outages experienced last summer.
