Springfield, Mo. -- (3/9/2018) Greg A. Marvin, 46, of Springfield, was sentenced on Friday for a shooting that occurred on the Bass Pro parking lot on October 8, 2016.
During the trial held in January of this year, evidence was presented showing that the defendant parked his vehicle on the opposite end of the parking lot from where he knew his ex-girlfriend was parked. The defendant walked around Bass Pro and over towards her vehicle. The defendant then walked up to his ex-girlfriend and another man when he began shooting the man. According to reports, the defendant assaulted his ex-girlfriend by striking her repeatedly. During the trial, evidence was presented including a surveillance video from Bass Pro which showed the defendant shoot the man, assault his ex-girlfriend, and run back over to the man who had been shot and continue to assault him.
In the sentencing phase of the trial the Jury recommended Marvin be sentenced to 25 years for first degree assault, 25 years for armed criminal action, and 20 for first degree domestic assault.
A formal sentencing was held Friday for the court to determine how those sentences would be served. After argument from both the prosecution and defense, it was determined that Marvin was sentenced to 25 years consecutive to 20 years for a total of 45 years.
