Bolivar, Mo. -- (3/6/2018) The Bolivar Police Department received a call Tuesday afternoon alleging that a student had a gun on a school bus while at the Intermediate school.
With the cooperation of the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Bolivar School District, buses were checked and no weapons were found.
The call was made from a deactivated cell phone. The caller, a juvenile, told dispatchers that a student had a firearm on a bus at the school. The caller did not provide a name, a bus number or any further information.
Once the information was received, no further students were allowed to board the school buses until each had been checked.
Even though no weapons were found, school employees were placed on each bus to help the drivers get the kids home safely.
Law enforcement around the county have been alerted and are standing by to respond if needed.
After the buses were searched, additional calls came into 911 with an apparent juvenile caller making vague requests for assistance. As of this time, it is unknown if these other calls are related.
This incident is still under investigation.
