Springfield, Mo. - (2/28/18) The Greene County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the identity of a man suspected of killing his mother.
On February 27, 2018, at approximately 5:50 pm, the emergency 911 center received a call from Mr. Cox at 4026 E. Whitehall, Springfield, MO, who had located his wife deceased in their residence. When Sheriff's deputies arrived on scene, they located 53 year old, Angela Cox deceased in the residence from a possible gunshot wound. Mr. Cox advised deputies their Toyota RAV4 was missing.
As detectives continued to follow up on the investigation, information lead them to Taney County where they located the missing Toyota RAV4, with Conner Cox, 21, driving it. Conner was detained and interviewed by Greene County Detectives and later charged with 1st Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action. Cox is being held without a bond on warrant number 1831-CR00670.
"This is a very unfortunate and sad event. I want to thank my deputies and staff for working to solve this murder and start the closure process in a professional and expedited manner. We will continue to pray for the Cox family during this difficult time." states Sheriff Jim C. Arnott.
A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
