(Dallas County, Mo.--11/30/17) The Dallas County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 73-year-old man who was found near his home Wednesday afternoon. Friends and family of the man are stunned by the tragedy.
Outgoing, personable and full of life are a few ways Carroll Ford was described by family. They say his sense of humor and smile will be missed.
Sharon Routh,is Carroll's sister-in-law and tells FOX5,"he was always willing to help everybody, he was a good neighbor, he helped everybody."
As the investigation continues law enforcement says the crime scene has been processed and foul play is suspected. Routh says her brother in law was stabbed multiple times.
"There wasn’t much way to defend himself when they stab you and you don’t have any defense."
Authorities are not releasing any information about suspects, but routh says she knows someone is responsible and wants justice.
"For it to be somebody you trusted and then they would do something to you like this person did to my brother in law. You just never know and you just get caught off guard."
Dallas county authorities are still searching for answers as they investigate exactly what happened. Ford's friends and family continue grieving their loss.
"It doesn’t take away the grief, the suffering that my sister’s gone through, it’s just not going to go away right away."
Above all Routh says her brother in law was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
"He loved his grand kids, he did and he talked to his daughter just a couple of days ago and she said I love you dad and he said I love you too."
