Mount Vernon, Mo (11/27/17) --

Update: The inmate was taken back into custody just after 7 p.m. Jones was being held in Vernon County jail due to the overcrowding. He was brought back to Lawrence County for court and then taken to the Lawrence County Jail to await being transferred back to Vernon County. While the officer was placing inmates in the van to be taken to Vernon County, Jones escaped, running behind residence. Officers were then dispatched using cameras and k-9 units to locate him. Jones was found hiding in brush behind a residence house and taken back into custody.

This inmate is accused of murder and should be considered dangerous!

Last seen in the area of the jail wearing a black and white Vernon County uniform. Suspect was also shackled.
