Branson, Mo. -- (11/27/17) Late Sunday morning Branson Police Officers responded to a call initiated by hikers reporting a possible deceased body in a bluff area adjacent to the Main Street overpass at 65 Highway. Officers searched the area noted by the hikers and discovered a body.

“Our police officers did confirm remains of a human body, but also noted it had been there quite some time,” stated Assistant Police Chief Eric Schmitt. Detectives who were assigned to the scene state there are no signs of a struggle or anything to indicate foul play. “Regardless, we will work this investigation as a suspicious death pending results of an autopsy by the Taney County Coroner,” added Schmitt. The Police and Coroner’s Office are attempting to confirm the identity of the remains and make notification to the family.
