Springfield, Mo (11/27/2017) -- The Salvation Army of Springfield will be providing Christmas assistance to residents of Christian and Greene Counties. Sign-Up for assistance begins today, Monday, November 27. The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Program provides individuals and families with food, toys, and winter accessories each holiday season.
“This is such a blessed time of year as we celebrate the birth of Christ and we want to make sure that everyone is able to celebrate regardless of their financial situation,” Major Butch Frost, Corps Officer, said.
Applications for Christmas assistance will be accepted Monday, November 27 through Friday, December 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. On Monday, November 27, and Monday, December 4, applications will be accepted from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in addition to the daytime hours. On Saturday, December 2 applications will be taken from 10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. Applications will not be taken on Sunday.
Individuals and families seeking assistance should apply in-person at The Salvation Army located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway. Those who apply must bring a picture ID, social security card for each member of their household, and proof of residency, such as a piece of mail within the last 30 days.
