One person is dead following an officer involved shooting in Laclede County.
Authorities say Nikolas Wanner, 32, was shot and killed after he pointed a rifle at a deputy.
The incident started when authorities responded to a call Thursday evening involving an intoxicated male with a firearm. The male subject was threatening to commit suicide according to the caller, the mother of the suspect.
Once on scene, the deputies set up a perimeter and attempted to negotiate with Wanner. During these negotiations Wanner went out the back door armed with multiple weapons. The deputy covering the back of the house told Wanner to drop his weapons. Wanner declined and instead pointed a rifle at the deputy. The deputy fired his gun, hitting and killing Wanner.
The deputy who fired the shot was placed on administrative leave per department policy.
