Investigation of dead body continues in Marshfield

UPDATE: The deceased victim has now been identified as 47-year-old Danny Lee Marler. Charges were filed late Tuesday afternoon against the shooter 37-year-old Daniel James Hand. According to court documents, he was charged with seven felonies including first degree murder, armed criminal action, and first and second degree assault. Hand is being held in the Webster County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.

Authorities continue to investigate a deadly scene in Marshfield after one person was found deceased inside a residence.

The Marshfield Police Department sent out a press release saying around 2:30 this morning officer responded to a home on North Mill Street in reference to a report of gun shots.

Once the officers arrived, they made contact with a male suspect. After identifying themselves the suspect fired shots at the officers. Both officers returned fire, hitting the suspect who then barricaded himself inside the home. After a brief standoff, the suspect surrendered to authorities and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As the investigation began authorities discovered a male subject deceased inside the residence and a female with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her lower extremity.
