Lebanon, MO. -- (11/20/17) On November 18, 2017 Jacob A. Smith, a 28-year-old white male out of Lynchburg, Missouri was charged with seven (7) counts of Class D Felony Possession of Child Pornography. Smith is currently incarcerated in the Laclede County Jail on a $150,000 cash/surety bond.
On November 17, 2017 an investigation was conducted after receiving a tip that Smith had uploaded child pornography on the internet. A detective with the Lebanon Police Department, who is a member of the Lake Area Cyber Crimes Task Force serving Laclede County, and an agent with Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation that lead to the arrest of Smith. Smith was then transported to Laclede County Jail.
The Lake Area Cyber Crimes Task Force and the Lebanon Police Department encourages Internet users to promptly report to their local law enforcement agency anyone who attempts to engage in unwanted, inappropriate, or sexualized communications with children. The Lake Area Cyber Crimes Task Force is partially funded by the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The above charges are mere accusation and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
