Update: The Miller County Prosecuting attorney has announced charges against Gary Lynn Sweet in connection with the shooting at the Riverview RV Park. The charges include two counts of First Degree Murder, two counts of First Degree Assault, and four counts of Armed Criminal Action.
The Lake Ozark Police Department responded to a call at the Riverview RV Park in Lake Ozark during the early hours of Wednesday after receiving reports of a shooting.
Details surrounding the case are few, however, authorities have been on the scene all day investigating. The Lake Ozark Police Department currently has a person of interest in custody.
The Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad contacted Phelps County earlier today to pick up 58-year-old Gary Lynn Sweet who was named a person of interest in the investigation. Sweet has been booked into Phelps County Jail pending charges of a double homicide and is currently being held on no bond.
Police are not releasing any information at this time about the victims or the motive behind the shooting, however, there are rumors circulating that the two people murdered were a husband and wife pair who were also managers of the RV Park. Police have yet to confirm or deny this information.
