OZARK, Mo. -- (10/10/2017) In an effort to better serve local families, Cox Health has recently opened a new pediatric office in Ozark, focusing their services towards the kids in the community.
"One of the problems with when you take care of children in a clinic that takes care of all ages is that sometimes developmental differences between children and adults are missed. So, it's really critical to have experts that know how to look at certain age groups and figure out what's going on with that child," said Katrina Kovarik-Stevens, a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with Ozark Pediatrics.
Currently the clinic is among only a few in the Ozarks that solely specialize in pediatric care. They hope that the tailored environment will help their young patients feel more at ease.
"Clearly is you look around here it's kid friendly and it makes them feel more comfortable to receive care from our providers," said Brock Shamel, the Administrative Director with Cox Medical Group.
With services ranging from developmental screenings to back to school physicals, the clinic strives to be the community's central hub for all of their children's needs.
Cox Health Ozark Pediatrics also has Cox Health Express, which allows patients to manage their family's health care from online and even message their child's health care provider if they have any questions.
"It allows our patients to interact with our clinics or our providers electronically, through the internet or their smart device- ask questions, request appointments, even do script refills," said Shamel.
As the cold months fast approach and flu season just around the corner, the clinic is urging new patients to pay them a visit.
