Springfield, Mo. -- (9/11/17) Around 2:00 p.m. this afternoon our electric line crews, and many others, began working in the Jacksonville area under the guidance of Jacksonville Energy Authority (JEA) to restore power after the remnants of Hurricane Irma went through the area.
Electric utilities in Florida have brought in over 20,000 additional personal to assist with power restoration efforts and requests for more are expected. Crews will work 16-hour shifts per day to restore power to over 7 million homes without electric service.
Florida officials estimate that approximately 65 percent of the state’s electric system has sustained damaged and at best it may be weeks before restoration efforts are complete.
The attached photos are from earlier this afternoon in the Jacksonville area. We’ll keep you updated on the status of our folks as we help our neighbors in Florida.
