Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--(07/14/2017) Marya Von Brandt, 23, of Springfield, Missouri, entered a guilty plea yesterday to involuntary manslaughter in the first degree and armed criminal action for events which occurred on November 6, 2012. Ms. Von Brandt admitted to recklessly killing Mr. Kevin Engh by shooting him.

The Honorable Thomas Mountjoy sentenced Ms. Von Brandt in accordance with the plea agreement. She received a sentence of six years in the Department of Corrections for involuntary manslaughter and three years in the Department of Corrections for armed criminal action. These sentences are to be served consecutively for a total of nine years imprisonment. The substantial delay in this case was the result of several mental health issues Ms. Von Brandt experienced that had to be addressed while this case was pending.
