Sarcoxie double-shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 wounded

SARCOXIE, Mo. -- (06/14/2017) Jasper County Sheriff's investigators are currently seeking warrants and looking for a suspect on the run after a double shooting near Sarcoxie left one dead and another wounded.

Tayler Anderson, 22, and George Williams, 21, from Carthage, Mo. were both victims of the early Tuesday morning shooting. The shooting took place at a field near County Road 30 and Gum Road. Anderson was declared dead at the scene, and Williams was taken to a nearby hospital.

Authorities are currently looking for the suspect and were canvasing nearby neighborhoods after the shooting. Due to the remote location of the field, detectives said the only witnesses appear to be the victims. The detectives also said the victims knew their shooter.

Detective Tim Williams of the Jasper County Sheriff's Office said, "It was 1:30 in the morning. Most people are sleeping at night. If you look around, there's not a lot of houses in this area. This is a farming area, so you get a lot of pastures."

It is unknown how many times the victims were shot and the motive behind the shooting. No one is in custody at this time, however, authorities are seeking search warrants.
