UPDATE: Missing Canoeist Has Been Found

UPDATE: The missing canoeist has been found and identified as Shelby D. Brigance. He was 24 years old and from Springfield, Mo. The incident occurred on May 16, 2017 on Table Rock Lake. The boat became swamped and Brigance fell into the water. The body was recovered in Table Rock Lake, 1.5 miles southwest of MO 13. 

UPDATE: FOX 5 can confirm that the person missing is the son of a Stone County Sheriffs deputy. Crews continue to search the area using side scan sonar equipment.

Kimberling City, Mo. – (05/16/17) The Southern Stone County's Fire and Rescue team is currently searching for a reported missing canoeist on Table Rock Lake, with five boats on the water and a dive team.

A male went missing around 5:45 p.m. off the point of Commander Lane in Kimberling City. It’s reported two occupants in a canoe capsized, and one occupant was able to make it to shore.

There’s no further information at this time.
