Is Your Bed Giving You Wrinkles?

Posted: Updated:

Foxnews.com--(04/20/2017) Many women invest in various lotions and potions to try and ward off wrinkles – but it seems that our pillows could be hampering our best beauty efforts.

While we may be aiming at getting a decent amount of “beauty sleep” it seems that cotton pillows could be ruining our chances when it comes to fighting the clock.

Appearing on TV show TodayTonight, Australian based cosmetic nurse Laura Lynch explained that sleeping on cotton material can cause our skin to create wrinkles.

From olive to coconut, these cooking oils should be in your kitchen. Find what to add to your list.

She said: “Cotton doesn’t allow for the skin to slide so it catches the skin, pulling it into a position and it doesn’t really allow the skin to bounce back to its natural form.”

Instead, Laura says that silk pillowcases are the way to go when it comes to looking after our skin.

She added: “Silk is a natural fiber, it’s hypoallergenic, it allows for the skin to breathe, and it allows the skin to slide over the surface.

“So it doesn’t pull at the skin – and therefore prevents these wrinkles from occurring.”

And it isn’t just the material of our pillows that could be unnecessarily ageing us – lying face down of with our faces pushed against our pillows can also add years.

Laura added: “If you’re creasing your face constantly against your pillow, you could also be causing a permanent wrinkle.

“Even though they may disappear couple of hours after you wake up in the morning, overtime, they can cause the development of lines and wrinkles.”

And it isn’t just our sleeping habits that could be putting our youthfulness at risk – air pollution can also add on years as can fake tan, according to experts.
