Springfield man sentenced to prison for meth conspiracy

Springfield, Mo - (4/19/17) A Springfield man has been sentenced in federal court for his role in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

John Morris, 44, was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in a federal prison without parole. The sentencing comes after Morris pleaded guilty to the charge last year.

Court documents say that authorities executed a search warrant on Morris's residence in January, 2013. During the search officers found a plastic sandwich bag that contained 23.96 grams of methamphetamine and $2,851 inside a yellow tool box. Two years later in January, 2015, authorities executed another search warrant of Morris's residence. During the search officers found 275.6 grams of pure methamphetamine in an ammunition case and seized $8,664 from Morris plus $125 that was found underneath the ammunition case.
