SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--(03/31/2017) Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) has issued a Code Red Emergency Appeal for O Positive and A Negative blood types. This means that there is less than one day's worth of supplies of blood in reserve for patients in over 40 area hospitals. The blood center is in immediate need of donors to overcome this extremely low reserve levels.
There are four CBCO donor centers conveniently located in the area. These include the Thompson Donor Center, the Joplin Donor Center, the Springdale Donor Center, and the Bentonville Donor Center.
Donated blood helps supply blood for patients in 40 area hospitals. On average, a transfusion takes place every seven minutes and nearly 200 donations are needed each day to meet the area's blood needs. If you would like to donate, you can do so at any of the following locations:
